Manuka Bushes
New Zealand Native Manuka bushes do well here and are flowering well at the moment. It was interesting to see these shrubs being sold in Japan as something very special. Maybe people in other countries also find them special but, other than these cultivated varieties, they are often considered to be a weed in New Zealand.

In the UK, manuka honey from NZ is *the* most expensive honey you can buy. Extraordinary price, although I suppose it has come a long way. Tastes quite nice tho.
ReplyDeleteI've always been interested in the pronunciation of manuka. I remember seeing a video of Chester Nealie and he pronounced it MARN-ucker, yet over here they always say MA-nu-ka.
