Large Cedar

A visit to an old homestead built about 1869 was a highlight of my week.  There are many of the original garden trees still growing, this cedar being one.  It is hard to show just how large it is.

Easy Flower Arrngements

Two easy flower arrangements that I have had in the house recently.  The fushia is always lovely in the kakehana - a hanging flower vase.  And the black and white glass cylinder is just right for the white iris.

Things Interesting

My friend, Phillip Smith, a Landscape Gardener from Auckland, took the top photograph.  I would love to visit Ding Dong in the UK and see what it is like.  I wonder how it got such a name.  Phillip also gave me the name of the white flower posted on the last blog.  It is a Verbascum chaixii, commonly known as mullein.

White Flowers

I have no idea what these white flowers are called.  They seed and come up each year but I do not remember ever having been given them or planting them.  Maybe someone can identify them for me.

New Year News

This coming March I have been invited to participate in an exhibition of wood fired ceramics in England.  Unfortunately the second image of the advertisement for the event will not transfer to my blog.  The exhibition is to take place from March 2nd. to 17th. at the Thoresby Gallery, Newark, Nottinghamshire. The other potters involved, all from UK, will be Nic Collins, Peter Swanson, Stephen Parry and Mark Griffiths. This picture is of the five packages of Estelle's and my pots ready to be freighted.

More Flowers

Two quick photos of some garden flowers.  The top one is of a cornus that is flowering profusely at the moment as is the guaria in the lower photograph.

Photos for our Season

My Pomegranate is flowering well this season so, hopefully, there will be lots of fruit.  This quail sits by my lantern every evening acting as a look-out for his chicks.  There is one group of ten chicks but I have not been able to photograph them yet.  Soon they will be too big to be interesting.
