Autumn 2015

My copper beach tree which is almost black in the summer turns this copper colour in the autumn.  I just had to pick this lovely early blossom which comes out at the end of May each year.  It is most beautifully perfumed as well as looking so lovely.

More from My Garden

I know I have shown a picture of raindrops before but I could not resist these lovely ones on a miniature bamboo.  The dogwoods and persimmon have been lovely this autumn which I found surprising after the very dry summer we experienced.

From Around My Place

These two photographs were taken around my property by my son on his IPhone.  The close-up of the manuka flower shows the very delicate colours and details of this very common New Zealand flower.  The panorama is of my workshop and gallery which was designed by John Scott and built at the same time as our house in 1970.

Lichen

These two images were taken by my son with his I Phone.  The mosses and lichens that grow here in this quite dry climate are many and varied which I find quite amazing.

Moody Autumn Colour

No comment on these pictures except to say they seemed to suit my winter blues.

Southern Hemisphere Autumn

I am not looking forward to winter but do enjoy the autumn colours.  The crabapple has a huge crop this year and friends have already take away buckets full to make jelly.  This persimmon tree does not fruit well but has brilliant colours every year.

Hamilton Gardens

On a recent trip to Hamilton N.Z. I was taken to the Hamilton Gardens and took a number of photographs.  The mosaic pathway was a real work of art and I could not resist photographing the cheeky sparrow at the restaurant.
